AC Milan became the first women's team in Europe to ensure all players who become pregnant in the final year of their deals get a guaranteed contract renewal. Along with this, players will also receive help with childcare and expenses for their children and companion.
This means, both players and coaches in all aspects of motherhood start with a minimum of 14 weeks paid maternity leave. Players and coaches will also be granted a period of leave if they choose to adopt as well as parents who are not the biological mother.
"The club has always shown great attention to the wellbeing of its female players and staff members, both professionally and personally." Said AC Milan's head of women's football, Elisabet Spina.
The club explained that players will receive a one-year contract extension "on the same economic terms" as their existing deal.
